About AlgenART
📖 The Naturalists Behind the Beauty
Before AlgenART, naturalists were already revealing algae’s beauty in their own ways. Nathanael Pringsheim (1823–1894) was a pioneer of botany who studied algae in microscopic detail and sketched their delicate forms. William Henry Harvey (1811–1866) collected and painted seaweed with vivid color and Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919) transformed nature’s geometry into bold, decorative art.

🌿 Carrying the Legacy Forward
Today, that same blend of science and artistry inspires Andreas Deutsch — associate professor at Dresden University of Technology, expert in the mathematical modeling of biological pattern formation, and lifelong admirer of biology’s history. Drawing on both his research and his love for natural heritage, he creates sustainable designs that turn historic algae illustrations into sustainable art for scientists, artists, and curious minds alike.
