This T-shirt motif features Hydrodictyon reticulatum, a green alga known for its striking net-like structure of pentagons and hexagons. Floating freely in freshwater, each light green colony is made of cells that can reproduce entire new nets from within — a marvel of microscopic design.
Based on a 19th-century illustration by botanist Nathanael Pringsheim.
